PALM VALLEY ANIMAL SOCIETY - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Founded in 1974, Palm Valley Animal Society (PVAS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal welfare organization located in Edinburg, TX  in the Rio Grande Valley and has the only full service, open-admission, animal intake facility in Hidalgo County, serving more than 30,000 animals and 750,000 residents annually. PVAS is working towards no-kill, defined as saving 90% or more of the animals that enter our care. 

Our mission is to care for homeless companion animals and enhance the relationship between animals and people through adoptions, education, and community outreach. PVAS works to place all adoptable animals in forever homes through adoptions, foster care or rescue partner groups. PVAS has numerous programs and partnerships designed to help pets in the shelter, in the community, and in homes.

The Executive Director is a critical role in our efforts to achieve no-kill. The Executive Director will provide leadership and guidance for the entire organization, including both facilities of the organization. At both facilities, you will lead caring, compassionate, and devoted teams dedicated to saving animal lives.   You will work closely with the leadership team, leading the mission delivery across all programs,   increasing fundraising, implementing new programs, and working with the board of directors. This is a critical role needed for the urgent lifesaving efforts for the 30,000 animals that are serviced each year at PVAS.

PALM VALLEY ANIMAL SOCIETY - DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations accomplishes the day-to-day operation of both facilities of the organization. Working closely with associated leadership team peers, this position is responsible for mission delivery across the lifesaving, facilities, and shelter medical departments, including programs planning & implementation, supplies procurement and inventory, personnel management, and financial management.

Palm Valley Animal Society (PVAS) has an urgent need for a Director of Development.

The Director of Development is a critical role in our efforts to achieve no-kill. This position will manage all aspects of the Palm Valley development program including goal-setting, major and capital gifts, planned giving, and prospect management. Building key community relationships with constituents and families as well as building relationships with corporate and foundation leaders is another key responsibility of this role.

The Director of Development works closely with the Director of Communication to appropriately position development opportunities and integrate messages in publications, grant submissions, reports, and collateral materials for cultivating and stewarding donors. This is a critical role needed for the urgent lifesaving efforts on behalf of the 30,000 animals that are serviced each year at PVAS.

Are you a Veterinarian ready to save animal lives while at the same time maintaining a satisfying work/life balance? Are you passionate and committed and willing to provide quality medical and surgical care to homeless animals? If yes, then we are looking for you! Palm Valley Animal Society (PVAS) has an urgent need for a Staff Veterinarian.

The Staff Veterinarian works closely with the Lead Veterinarian, Shelter Manager, and Executive Director to oversee the health of the shelter populations. This position, with the Lead Veterinarian, works to provide surgical and medical care to the animals at two PVAS locations in the Rio Grande Valley. The focus is population-driven medicine, with attention on individual cases as the shelter’s resources continue to develop. You will work with an amazing staff at PVAS and be hard-pressed to find a more caring and dedicated team.

This job is for you if you are:

  • A licensed Veterinarian in good standing in the state of Texas, or have the ability to obtain a license with the Texas state veterinary board upon hire;

  • USDA Certification, or ability to get certified, for issuing health certificates;

  • Able to maintain clear communication with staff on all levels, including proven written and oral presentation skills;

  • Looking for professional flexibility and a satisfying work/life balance.

PALM VALLEY ANIMAL SOCIETY - ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the management of the organization’s financial accounting and reporting. This position works collaboratively with managers in other departments to ensure the efficient and effective processing of financial transactions and the smooth flow of financial information across the organization. Working with the Executive Director, the Accounting Manager helps to build the annual budget, works in support of Human Resources for issues related to payroll, and ensures that the organization remains compliant with all relevant financial/tax reporting standards and regulations.
