Tails Around Town invites community members to take shelter dogs out on field trips. Outings can last from a couple of hours to half a day. Trips can include a neighborhood stroll, a drive, a trip to the beach, a movie at home, even a drink or meal on a pet-friendly patio. Whether you already have a dog, or aren’t quite ready to adopt, it’s a great way to get your daily dog fix!
Taking a dog out for a couple of hours helps us make them more visible to possible adopters. Plus, we learn what makes their tails wag! It’s a great excuse to spend a day doing something new exploring the RGV - even a fun date. Plus, you’ll make a cute new furry friend!
Anyone interested in taking a dog out on the town should e-mail: [email protected] to sign up. Signing up in advance is recommended, so we can make sure we have a dog ready for you. Walk-ins are welcome. Be sure to arrive at the PVAS Andrews Center between 11am-1pm for check-out. Dogs need to be returned to the same location no later than 1 hour before close.
Participants need to be 18 years of age or older, bring a valid piece of photo ID & sign an agreement. Interested in helping out in other ways? Consider donating an item from our wish list to help our Tails Around Town field trip dogs have fun out on the town. For more information click the link below!
We love volunteers! We are always recruiting volunteers for the Tails Around Town program! Volunteers can dedicate as much or as little time as they would like. Program assistants can help distribute flyers in the neighborhood, create adorable social media posts, or help us with checking dogs in and out for field trips.
